Regulations are constantly evolving in the chemical and ingredient industry.  The development, revision and ongoing use of safety systems are critical to maintaining governance and control over the handling of hazardous products. It is important for all members of the supply chain to not only understand these regulations but also ensure they are followed throughout the process.

For Cambrian, our considerations go further than just our own step of the process. As a distributor, we need to be aware of how these regulations impact our partners, from the single ingredient supplier all the way to the final product. Detailed training and regular review of the regulations is a top priority for our regulatory and operations teams as our partners rely on our in-depth knowledge in this ever-changing environment.

From March 1-3, 2017 four Cambrian employees received the latest training on two important regulatory systems in the chemical industry:

  1. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) with the incorporation of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling for chemicals (GHS);
  2. Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)

Hosted by Responsible Distribution Canada (RDC), our team spent one day dedicated to TDG in Canada and the other two learning about WHMIS 2015. As an importer, Cambrian must be compliant with the new WHMIS 2015 regulations effective June 1, 2017.

Visit the links above or contact us to speak with one of our in-house experts to learn more about these systems and how they are impacting the chemical and ingredient industry in Canada. Our team of account representatives will also be happy to discuss any specific products you have in mind and ensure that the proper measures are taken with the support of our dedicated regulatory team.
