Tara Gum: A Natural Thickener and Stabiliser with a Variety of Food Applications

Cambrian is excited to announce that as of May 14th, 2018, Health Canada has approved tara gum for use in the Canadian Market. Our regulatory department has been closely monitoring the proposal and this approval now allows us to provide this amazing ingredient to our Canadian customers. We are pleased to offer a quality product from the largest tara gum manufacturer, Exandal Corp. This 100% natural ingredient is a locust bean gum replacer, and is often dosed at up to 25% less that LBG. It works synergistically with other polysaccharides, such as agar-agar, xanthan gum, and carageenan to create a gel with increased strength, increased elasticity, and less sensitivity to syneresis. Tara gum is sourced from the pods of the tara plant, a plant indigenous to Peru.
